Malathi Nidadavolu, born in 1937 in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, India, moved to Madison, Wisconsin, in 1973. Her academic qualifications include masters in English Language and Literature, and Library Science. She fondly remembers her mother Srimati Nidadavolu Seshamma and Sri Nidadavolu Jagannadha Rao as the most influential in defining her values.

 

Malathi has been writing fiction since early 1950s. Her fiction was research topic for an M. Phil. degree (Andhra University, 2003). After moving to Madison, Malathi started writing in English as well. Some of her translations have been published in reputable journals such as The Toronto Asian Review, Journal of South Asia Literature, Wisconsin Review, and online magazines.
