Comments on Sripada Subrahmanya Sastry by Satya Pappu, Houston, TX.

I fortuitously came across Tulika and enjoyed it thoroughly. I'm Telugu speaking
and a literature aficionado. What you said about a short story is very true. It's
like a lightening on a cloudy day. I'm very fond of Sripada
Subramanya Sastry and Malladi Ramakrishna Sastry's
short stories. I hope I would be able to read some of those stories translated
by you in your E-magazine some day. Your flow and narration is awesome.

Sripada Subramanya Sastry garu wrote around 1920's to 1950's I guess. Some
of his stories were later broadcast in the Kadha Mandaram feature on AIR Vijayawada (or Vizag). One story I remember that was broadcast is "Vadla Ginjalu".
It's about a chess genius called Tangirala Sankarappa who is devoted to the game, plays with Peddapuram maharaja and defeats him. Subramanya Sastry's stories are more about the language and expression and the ideas. Of course, the ideas were big and revolutionary in those times. The plot is not as significant as the expression is. So, I'm
curious how it would turn out when you translate it. I'm sure you have come across many such stories in the past.
